Doing the Robson Street stroll you could almost miss Zefferelli's restaurant in Vancouver. Nestled above the thriving shopping strip (the second floor above the Cactus Café) this self-billed spaghetti joint offers a welcome escape to another land where food and leisure aren't just for fun - they're part of life. Inside the beautifully-appointed room is an open kitchen and a sumptuous looking antipasto bar. The restaurant hums with activity and reservations are definitely a good idea, especially if you want to get a table by the vast window that looks down on the street below.
If you like fine Italian cuisine this is the place to be. Both the lunch and dinner menus are full of fresh and inviting dishes. The only trouble is deciding what you want. The important thing is to move slow, sip on a glass of wine, nibble on the bread and spicy tomato dip and wait for divine inspiration. This is after all an Italian experience. When we finally got underway I started with the tomato salad, a wonderful starter that came with fresh basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I added fresh mozzarella cheese and it truly made the salad sing. For the entrees I chose the chicken scallopine with capers and white wine lemon butter. I also had a piece of the chocolate polenta cake. It turned out to be just the right ending to an excellent meal.
